If you can’t hit the beach go hit the blogs.
www.fodors.com/wire can guide you where to go and what to bring on your travels. This blog is a laundry list of vacation destinations with a bit of how-to and advertisements thrown in. The Bermuda post is a prime example of its advertorial nature. However with a beach that pretty you’ll forget why you cared in the first place.
Unless your destination is a nudist colony, you’ll have to pack something. Go to www.shoppingblog.com to find what you need or maybe what you want. Geared toward the fashionista in all of us, the posts cover what’s hot as well as other reasonable indulgences.
You also have to eat. www.seriouslygood.kdweeks.com has a recipe for a low country souffle that sounds yummy. Don’t let the fact that he’s a personal chef scare you. Try it. www.stephencooks.com will show you the food in beautiful glossy detail. This Maine cook posts recipes that look gorgeous but sound rather lengthy to prepare. But hey, you’re on vacation!
www.blogherald.com covers weblogs from all the angles. Have an issue with Blogger? They’ve covered it. They review new blogs as they discover them and offer plenty of links to blogs that cover the issues of the day. July 4th features links to bloggers sounding off on the usefulness of the Live Eight concerts.
www.realityblurred.com walks a fine line between blog and website in its pursuit of reality tv. It features one stop shopping for news and views of your favorite shows. Or catch a glimpse of your favorite stars at www.defamer.com. Can’t find them in Tinseltown? Look for them in New York at www.gawker.com.
July 16th is the release date of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Get all the hype at www.the-leaky-cauldron.org. This blog is for the hard core J.K.Rowling fan and may be hard to decipher for those who haven’t paid a literary visit to Hogwarts. Need more? Go to www.hogwartswire.com to further indulge your love for all things Potter.
www.bookslut.com/blog can help you find other choices if you want to venture out into the book world. True to its title, this blog can be vulgar in its vernacular. The blog and its companion website offer many reviews and author interviews that open things up beyond the New York Times best seller list.
