Valentine’s Day in the Blogosphere

Valentine’s Day is upon us. Will it be the same wilted flowers and chocolate this year? Do better! The blogosphere can help you plan the Valentine’s Day of your dreams.

Money should be no object for those seriously perusing www.luxist.com As the title implies, this is a blog for those accustomed to fine living. Maybe you should take a trip on the day of love. Try their suggestion and go to NYC and a get a room at the Mandarin Hotel with a view of Central Park and the Asian inspired “Gates exhibit” on display from Feb 12- 27. Or maybe you want to claim something for your very own. Wait a bit and go to Sarasota, Florida and bid on the magnificent estate they have posted. Serious inquiries only, the bidding will start at 1.2 mil.

Perhaps something a bit smaller is in order. www.shopetc.com/shoptalk might be more in my price range. Go there to find where the fashion deals are. One caveat is that many of these posts appear to be about the NYC area. Not a problem with online shopping but if you really must take advantage of sample sales you’ll just have to haul yourself out there. Sounds like a road trip to me!

What if you’re staying in for Valentine’s Day? Nothing says romance like candles. Dim the lights and go to www.cudge.blogspot.com and check out their posts on the latest selections of votive candle holders available at their parent site www.cudge.net a wedding and party planning site.

What will you use to toast the one you love or maybe just the one you like for right now? A perennial favorite is a bottle of wine. Suppose you want to venture beyond a glass or okay, a bottle of “Two Buck Chuck”? If you happen to know your wines or just like to pretend that you do www.professorbainbridgeonwine.com is an excellent blog by a southern California wine connoisseur. He can tell you anything you need to know about vino. He even has a few things in the Blog Hunter’s price range — the $10 and under range to be exact. Which explains why I live for the day when Trader Joe’s comes to Fort Wayne.

If Valentine’s Day ends up propelling you down the aisle in several months, take heart, you’re not alone. Go to www.thenest.com and check out the newlywed blogs. However first things first, you’ll need to make a stop off at www.theknot.com to plan those nuptials. Then again you might just be ready for a vacation. There’s a blog for that too, www.gadling.com where you can investigate vacations that immerse the traveler in the destination. As if getting away from it all wasn’t enough.
