Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s professional Touring Company hosts 2nd annual contemporary dance performance

 Fort Wayne Dance Collective (FWDC) will present Collective Expressions, a contemporary dance show performed by FWDC’s Touring Company on August 18 and 19th at the Williams Theatre, Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Collective Expressions is a contemporary dance performance featuring original works by compelling choreographic voices. Members of the Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s Touring Company, directed by Mandie Kolkman, will use their artistic expression to create moving works that touch on social issues, provoke thought, and fill the soul.
Performance pieces will also feature dancers from the FWDC Pineapple Dance Project under the direction of FWDC artistic staff, Ashley Benninghoff. The Pineapple Dance Project is a youth group of movement artists that explore choreography in an inviting, educational setting. Pineapple Dance Project acts as a pre-professional company that feeds into the FWDC Touring Company.
Collective Expressions serves as the kick-off performance to Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s 40th anniversary season. The Touring Company will perform several times throughout the year for private bookings, public community events, and FWDC program’s including the Indiana Dance Festival in the spring of 2019.
“It is really important for Fort Wayne Dance Collective artists to be active within the local arts community,” says Mandie Kolkman, Fort Wayne Dance Collective Artistic Director. “It is our duty to create in order to inspire and promote growth within our city. Not only are we adding to the rich arts culture in Fort Wayne, we are also acting as role models for those dreaming of forging a path as a professional movement artist.”
Tickets for Collective Expressions are $15 for adults and $12 for students with an ID or under the age of 14. Tickets are available in advance or at the door, if supplies last. Tickets can be purchased at: fwdc.org or by calling 260.424.6574.
