Fort Wayne Civic Theatre to hold auditions for "Westside Story" on October 3

The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre to hold Auditions for the upcoming production of "West Side Story" on October 3, 2004


Director Becky Niccum, Musical Director Eunice Wadewitz, and Choreographer Stefan Zubal seek a large cast. All but Shrank, Krupke, Doc, and Gladhand must be able to sing, dance and act.

WEST SIDE STORY - Musical, January 21- February 6, 2005, Rated (PG-13) Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950's New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Auditions will be held at the Performing Arts Center (P.A.C) on Sunday, October 3rd from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and call backs will be Monday, October 4th from 7:00pm-10:00pm. Please enter from the back of the P.A.C. to check in.

All auditioning should be prepared to sing 32 bars of an upbeat song and provide sheet music in the proper key for the pianist provided. Everyone should be prepared to sing and dance at the initial audition and stay the entire time listed above. Please bring a list of all conflicts - the fewer the better in order to be cast!

AUDITIONS FOR SHRANK, KRUPKE, DOC & GLAD HAND: Will be at call backs, Monday, October 4th from 7:00pm-10:00pm.

REHEARSALS: Starting on Monday, November 29, rehearsals will be held Monday through Friday, 7:00 - 10:30pm and on Sundays from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. at the Performing Arts Center through January 20th.

PERFORMANCES: Run January 21 - February 6, 2005 at the Performing Arts Center with Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees, and some Wednesday evenings and Saturday matinees.
