The Fort Wayne City Crematory was state-of-the-art waste management—20th century style. Used to burn garbage, the crematory was located on North Clinton Street, north of the St. Mary’s river. This modern facility was built in 1900, after the city’s first crematory (wait for it!) burned down in a case of irony on November 12, 1899.
