On Columbia Street, between Calhoun and Clinton Streets, once stood the mighty Freiburger Building. The building housed Freiburger Leather Company, Fort Wayne Gloves & Mittens Co. and the Wayne Shoe (and Rubbers) Company. The building, of course was demolished (as is customary with old quality buildings) to make room for the former City-County Building (built in 1970)—which is now called the Rousseau Center (law enforcement headquarters).
