The man with his head bowed diligently over those boxes and boxes of files is Richard Elmer, who in 1968 (April 6, 1968, to be exact) was the head of the Art & Music Department at the Fort Wayne/Allen County Public Library. According to the info we have, this photo was taken while the material was housed in the old Purdue building, before finding a home at the new library building. We just thought the picture was interesting, from a time when storing and sifting through data meant getting your hands dirty. Literally.
