Josh 'Thunderhawk' Hall
Best Local Album: Lee Miles’ “Heathen Blux.” The guy came out of the dust!
Best National Album: “49:00” by Paul Westerberg was my favorite, but from a critical standpoint I would have to say that Stephen Malkmus' Real Emotional Trash was 'the best' of 2008.
Best Local Show: Left Lane Cruiser's release show with Black Diamond Heavies and PoopDeFlex. It seemed like everybody who was everybody was at that show, even though that was before I knew who everybody was.
Best National Show: Eef Barzelay at Calhoun Street. So many things were stacked against that show. It was last minute with almost no promotion and no real venue or PA system lined up, but a bunch of local people made it happen and it turned out great and somehow we all ended up at The Brass Rail that night.

Best Local Album: There were several great albums in 2008. Two standouts for me would be Lee Miles “Heathen Blux” and Left Lane Cruiser “Bring Yo' Ass To the Table.”
Best National Album: I really found myself diving further into old blues albums lately, so a lot of the newer stuff didn't really find much rotation in my CD player. But I do know that T-Model Ford's newest release, “Jack Daniel Time,” is a great live album from the blues legend with acoustic tracks no one has heard before.
Best Local Show: I think it's hands down that Matt Kelley's Down the Line is THE best local show every year. The cat is a genius and a huge inspiration.
Best National Show: There is no question, T-Model Ford at the Brass Rail. We almost killed him! 90 degree heat, Jack Daniels and 200 people packed into The Brass Rail to hear an 88 year old blues artist play for nearly 3 hours! There isn't one other national band that puts that sort of effort into a show.

Best Local Album: Sankofa “Music With Friends: Volume 1-3”
Best National Album: Black Diamond Heavies “A Touch of Someone Else's Class”
Best Local Show: Left Lane Cruiser's album release party with Black Diamond Heavies, PoopDeFlex, Fun With Chicken and Pleasing Melani
Best National Show: HBE Presents: T-Model Ford

Lee Miles
Best Local Album: Wooden Satellites “Why Can't I Be Enough”
Best National Album: Bonnie 'Prince' Billy “Lie Down In the Light”
Best Local Show: How about Greg's going away party at The Brass Rail with Alabaster Fox, Thunderhawk and Me with the Illegitimate Sons? We got to play with Matt Kelly on 'Deserters,' which was pretty cool. It was a great night, but a sad night. Seeing Greg's hat bobbing up and down in the crowd was something I was growing accustomed to. Oh, and you got rip roaring drunk and sang some sort of Viking chant that freaked everyone out.
Best National Show: Eef Barzelay at Calhoun Street

John Minton of The Possum Trot Orchestra
Best National Album: For me it's a tie between Bob Dylan “Tell Tale Signs” and Hank Williams “The Unreleased Recordings.”
Best Local Show: Kenny Taylor and The B-Sharps performing the music of The Who at Down the Line 2.
Best National Show: Chris Hillman and Herb Pederson at C2G in June. I also really enjoyed Loretta Lynn at the Embassy and James Burton at Piere's last spring.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Susie Surachi of The Possum Trot Orchestra
Best Local Album: Okay, it may seem biased, but it is the only one I'm familiar with, plus I have recent 9/10 and 4.5/5 ratings from overseas reviewers to tell me I'm not crazy, so it's gotta be PTO's “Night Crow.”
Best Local Show: Deuce opening for James Burton at Piere's. Kenny and Patrick were hot, hot, hot. Hotter than Burton's own band that night.
Best National Show: Steppin' In It
C. Ray Harvey of Wooden Satellites
Best Local Album: Kyle Morris “Pica”
Best National Album: Bonnie 'Prince' Billy “Lie Down In the Light”
Best Local Show: Zephaniah. I don't even like that music, but they put on the best show hands down.
Best National Show: I was pretty amazed by Caribou, even standing in the rain to see it at Pitchfork Festival.
