The Ian and Mimi Rolland Art Gallery at the University of Saint Francis plays host to the Annual Three Rivers Exhibition through August 17. 2007 marks the 9th year the University of Saint Francis’ School of Creative Arts has held the exhibit. The Three Rivers Exhibition features around 60 artists — all from about a 90-mile radius of Fort Wayne — working in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and photography.

“It’s a wonderful show in that it showcases and gives us a sense of what is happening annually in the area,” says Rick Cartwright, Dean of the School of Creative Arts.

Artists are invited to contribute to the annual Three Rivers Exhibition by the faculty of the School of Creative Arts. All the names go before a faculty committee and the faculty then issues invitations.

“We’re trying to show a creative range, so we look for a wide variety of work,” explains Cartwright. “We don’t want it to be an all painting show or an all ceramic show. Again, we’re looking for diversity. We have many more two dimensional artists than we have three dimensional artists so therefore there is some selectivity there in terms of trying to create something that’s balanced and reflects what’s going on in the area.”
